Take Me Home Tonight - Comedy with a Message from the Past

There is a good news for the fans of retro movies telling about reckless youth of the 80s, now you can reminisce about the good old time of the eighties together with Take Me Home Tonight comedy. With the official release on March 4, there is a number of Take Me Home Tonight reviews on this movie already. You can refer to them to get a general idea of the picture or read this one to make an impression about the film.
Known due to his hit movie FUBAR, Michael Dowse picked up another epoch to depict vanity of youth life, this time it's a kind of retrospection on the events from the past. Some viewers can also see themselves in one of the movie's characters, as they probably lived through the similar situations during adolescent years. As we have already touched the characters, it's a nice chance to mention them: a recent MIT grad Matt Franklin starred by Topher Grace, his crazy twin sister Wendy starred by Anna Faris, Matt's friend Barry played by Dan Fogler and of course the best-ever-girl who is out of Matt's league - Tori Fredreking starred by awesome blond Teresa Palmer.
Matt has not yet decided what he is going to be in future, so he is 'content' with a job at a local video store. But when Tori comes into the shop one day he pretends to be just a visitor here. Then the girl invites Matt into a weekend day party that appears to be a turning point in life for four of them.
Some movies telling about this epoch tend to slip down from facetious story to pure parody, but one can't tell the same about Take Me Home Tonight comedy. It can be rather described as homage to classics of the 80s. It is an excellent movie you would love to see, the soundtrack alone makes the comedy worth seeing. Actually, all the songs in the movie are picked up properly to induce the viewer to melancholy or give some drive in certain moments. “Video Killed the Radio Star”, “Don't You Want Me”, “California Love” and of course “Take Me Home Tonight” are just few of many songs. If you are the one who can't keep silent on hearing good retro music, you can have a sing-along time while watching this movie. One thing this film lacks is good jokes. But if to take into account this is not a pure comedy aiming to entertain, rather a narrative film uncovering the truth about life of the eighties, then this is not a drawback at all. Yet, when you start watching, you will find yourself smiling in the course of the movie's 97 minutes, since it is rather positive with a good deal of nostalgia. And of course strong leads make Take Me Home Tonight comedy a must-see movie.
