The Dark Comedy of Death at a Funeral

Death at a Funeral was a re-make of a movie by Frank Oz called Death at a Funeral, but this second version was much funnier. It starred the hilarious comedians, Chris Rock, Tracy Morgan, Danny Glover, and Martin Lawrence in a laugh-out-loud routine that lasted a good couple of hours. The jokes in Death at a Funeral are completely original, unexpected, surprising, and have never been done in a movie before. Part of the reason why people like the movie so much is because it’s so inventive in its use of humor. The tagline is die laughing, and there is nothing truer in this movie.

Chris Rock is put in a precarious role of being the eldest, most responsible, and hardworking son of the family, and this plays into his comedy very well because he has trouble with things that are unusual, difficult, or weird, and this whole movie just keeps throwing surprises at him left and right all throughout the film. It’s hilarious to watch Chris Rock deal with this difficult issues. It is painful and difficult to watch for Chris Rock to try to put on appropriate expressions to deal with his relatives when there is so much else going on. His brother, Martin Lawrence, poses a problem too. It is just very difficult for Aaron to put on a positive appearance in such an atmosphere with so little civility.

Some people don’t have the time to go out and buy the movie, so they do a Death at a Funeral download.

There are so many gags, jokes, and surprises in this movie, while at the same time dealing with a family that is not prepared to deal with them, that it throws the whole concept of a funeral into an hilarious atmosphere. There is even a mysterious dwarf with a shocking surprise that will stun the whole family. There is not one person there that actually makes the funeral easier, and Chris Rock is forced to deal with all of them. There is nothing wrong with putting Chris Rock in this role because he has an unexpected side that makes him much funnier when he is dealing with hard problems. His neurotic attitude has a characteristically iconic impression that leaves audiences wondering how he did it given his generally laid back and funny demeanor most of the time. Chris Rock is an A+ actor that really makes the movie.

Original..

This was a terrible remake... You should watch the original British version it's 10 times better.

Crap!!

didnt need to be remade. the british version was fine but somehow the americans couldnt understand it. so they were like, hey!! lets just replace the cast with black folk saying ''Daaaang'' and such.
Just a lazy remake with no changes at all except the black cast to make it seem funny to the american population.

p.s the midget is the same though.
