The Characters Find Themselves in Land of the Lost

The Land of the Lost is one of the best comedy movies of the year, based on the hit children’s television show by Syd and Marty Krofft of the same name. They helped pioneer the kinds of humor, innovative special effects, and lackluster humor that this movie vehicle was so infamous for.

Land of the Lost stars Will Ferrell and Danny McBride, a hilarious comic duo that has continued to showcase the supernatural talent that each of them possess when working in unison. They demonstrate a capacity for humor that is unrelenting in this movie, and it creates a laugh out loud spectacle in combination with the quick-witted writing from Chris Hency, Dennis McNicholas, Syd Krofft, and Marty Krofft. These four pioneers of scriptwriting have created monologues, dialogues, and sequences that are beyond the human imagination to think up. They are so creative and funny that it boggles the mind to wonder at how they did it.

Even though the movie only got 5 out of 10 stars according to online polls, it was a laugh out loud comedy, and many comedies cannot say that about themselves, even ones that get higher ratings. Austin Powers, South Park, There’s Something About Mary, and Step Brothers are all movies that classify as laugh out loud comedy, even though they didn’t get the highest ratings. You can also judge a comedy by how well it did at the box office. All of the aforementioned movies were commercial successes.

Land of the Lost movie begins with the research professor out of luck expounding on his theory which he can’t prove, interludes with the theory proven before his eyes, and concludes with his successful fame as a result of proving his theory. All three sequences are expertly crafted by Will Ferrell and do him justice in the type of character they create for him. It is almost as if the role was written for Will Ferrell and was probably adapted to him. There are many instances where he plays off Danny McBride’s humor or where Danny McBride plays off his humor or vice versa. The astounding little monkey man is also a feature of the movie which is particularly funny, and he’s really the third character in the movie to bring in comic relief, but the comic relief is only relief from more comic hilarity so the whole movie plays expertly.
